The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue announced on September 14, 2011, that they will follow the IRS decision to extend the tax return filing due date until October 31, 2011 for businesses and individual taxpayers located in counties which have been designated as federal disasater areas as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The impacted counties include Adams, Bradford, Bucks, Chester, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Union, Wyoming and York.
Individuals who reside or have businesses in these counties are eligible for relief. The extension of time applies to all original 2010 personal income tax (PA40, PA41, PA20S/65 and PA40 NRC) resident and nonresident returns for individuals, fiduciaries and partnerships due on or before October 17, 2011 and 2011 estimated and nonresident withholding payments for individuals and fiduciaries due on September 15, 2011. Also eligible for relief are 2011 nonresident withholding payments for PA-20S/PA-65 on behalf of nonresident owners of partnerships, limited liability companies and S corporations.
All 2010 corporate tax reports as well as estimated and annual payments previously due on September 15 or October 17, 2011 are covered under this extension. Such reports and payments are now due on October 31, 2011. All penalties and interest will be abated through October 31, 2011.
