CBS2’S Carolyn Gusoff to Start 2013 Marcum Workplace Challenge
Award-winning Long Island Reporter to Sound the Starting Horn for the Second Time
Melville, NY – Carolyn Gusoff, the Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist and Long Island native, will sound the starting horn at the 8th Annual Marcum Workplace Challenge, Long Island’s largest corporate run-walk for charity. This year’s event will take place at Jones Beach State Park on July 30.
This will be Ms. Gusoff’s second time as Celebrity Starter for the annual fundraiser, which attracts nearly 10,000 Long Islanders including employees from more than 200 Long Island companies, government offices and non-profit organizations, and their families and friends. Sponsored by Marcum LLP, one of the largest independent public accounting and advisory services firms in the nation, the event benefits the Long Island Children’s Museum, Long Island Cares -The Harry Chapin Food Bank, and Children’s Medical Fund of New York.
“The Marcum Workplace Challenge brings together all of corporate Long Island for a great cause. It is very exciting to see the thousands of runners and walkers lined up at the starting gate, and watching them go when I sound the horn is really special, since I know how many Long Islanders will benefit from the event,” said Ms. Gusoff, who covers the Long Island beat for CBS 2. In addition to her Emmy awards and numerous other industry honors, she has also garnered several Long Island Fair Media Council FOLIO awards and seven first-place Society of Professional Journalists/Press Club of Long Island awards. She resides in Nassau County with her husband and their two children.
Since its inception in 2005, the Marcum Workplace Challenge has raised nearly $300,000 for local charities. The event is produced by the Greater Long Island Running Club under the management of Event Director Mindy Davidson.
