Connecticut Technology Council and Marcum LLP Announce 2017 Marcum Tech Top 40 Companies

Tenth Annual Event to Honor State’s 40 Fastest Growing Tech Companies

Hartford, CT – The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) and Marcum LLP today announced the 2017 Marcum Tech Top 40, an annual recognition of the fastest growing technology companies in Connecticut. This year’s group of top-ranked companies will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT on September 19. A complete list of companies is available online at www.ct.org, as well as below.

The Marcum Tech Top 40, now celebrating its tenth anniversary, has honored over 360 Connecticut technology companies since 2008. The awards recognize technology leaders in six industry sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, Energy/Environmental, Life Sciences, New Media/Internet/Telecom, IT Services, and Software. Companies are both privately and publicly held and have at least $3 million in annual revenue and a demonstrated record of revenue growth in each of the preceding four years.

Of the 2017 honorees, 15 companies are publicly traded, and ten have more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Geographically, Fairfield is home to 20 companies this year, followed by New Haven County with ten and Hartford County with eight. New London County boasts two Tech Top 40 companies this year.

For the second year in a row, the Marcum Tech Top 40 Accelerator Company is Arccos Golf of Stamford, a classification reserved for companies that successfully scaled to $3 million in revenue in fewer than three years.

“Marcum is proud to extend enthusiastic congratulations to all of this year’s fastest growing technology companies,” said Michael K. Brooder, CPA, partner-in-charge of Marcum’s Hartford, Connecticut, office. “Marcum is proud to help celebrate the tech sector, one of the examples of growth and innovation within Connecticut’s business ecosystem. The Marcum Tech Top 40 is our long-standing way of recognizing this and celebrating the achievements of some of the most disruptive and forwarding thinking companies in the state. It is an honor to partner with the Connecticut Technology Council on this outstanding event for the tenth year running.”

Bruce Carlson, CTC’s President and CEO added, “Connecticut is proud of its unique history of innovation and entrepreneurship. Growth in Connecticut must and does come, at least in part, from the technology sector, and these Marcum Tech Top 40 companies are exemplary of the achievements of the growing tech sector in the state. We look forward to celebrating tech growth achievements for another decade and beyond.”

To date, this year’s event sponsors include: Title Sponsor Marcum LLP, as well as Astor Place Inc., Pullman & Comley LLC, Webster Bank, and Sandler Training.

The September 19 awards program will include an exhibition featuring each of the Marcum Tech Top 40 companies. Six category winners will be announced, and one company will be named overall winner for demonstrating the greatest percentage growth in revenue across all the technology verticals.
