Diane Giordano of Marcum LLP Honored Tax & Business

Melville, New York – Marcum LLP, one of the largest independent public accounting and advisory services firms in the nation and the largest accounting firm on Long Island, is pleased to announce that Partner, Diane Giordano, CPA will be honored by the Long Island Business News for her personal, business and community achievements.

“Diane has been a tremendous asset to the Firm and its clients. She is a positive role model for women coming up through the business community and is truly deserving of this distinguished honor,” stated Carolyn Mazzenga, Partner-In-Charge, of Marcum’s Long Island office.

The Long Island Business News selected Giordano as a member of the 2011 class of Long Island’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in business which recognizes the significant contributions of women professionals to Long Island’s economy and communities. According to the Long Island Business News, Giordano was selected based upon her professional accomplishments and leadership in the women’s business world. The honorees represent the most influential women in business, government, education and nonprofit fields. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Giordano joined Marcum in 2005 and is a member of its Tax and Business Services division. She is a mentor and coach to younger staff members and participates in its Women’s Leadership Development Program, a cutting-edge initiative that helps promote and nourish the careers of the firm’s female managers and partners. Giordano serves as the firm wide tax training coordinator and editor of its external newsletters, Beyond the Numbers and Tax Flash.

Throughout her 25-year career, Giordano has shared her knowledge externally to members of professional and industry organizations as a frequent speaker on a variety of tax topics. Additionally, she has authored numerous articles that have been published in various professional publications. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants where she received its Distinguished Service Award in 2009. In 2010, the Long Island Business News recognized Giordano in its Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services.

Prior to joining Marcum, Giordano spent 11 years at a global accounting organization after spending six years at a “Big 4” firm. Earlier in her career, she was an internal auditor at a large regional bank.

Giordano is actively involved in several community and charitable organizations. She is a former Board member for both the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes. Diane currently serves as a board member for Girls, Inc. Long Island. She also served as treasurer for her local Parent Teacher Association and is presently a member of the Moxxie Network and AANG.

Giordano holds a M.S. in Taxation from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and a B.S. in Accounting from Hofstra University. She also holds the designation of Certified Financial Planner from the College for Financial Planning.
