Marcum CPA Elected NYSSCPA Manhattan/Bronx Chapter President
Roman Matatov, CPA, of the Advisory Services group of Marcum LLP has been installed as president of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). Matatov practices forensic accounting and business valuation.
Since joining the firm in 2004, Matatov has assisted clients spanning a variety of industries with high-profile and complex matters. His expertise encompasses determining damages in intellectual property and business disputes; appraising intangible assets, intellectual properties and business interests; commercial and matrimonial litigation support; investigative accounting; and insolvency and reorganization work for troubled businesses.
Matatov joined the NYSSCPA in 2008.He has served as the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter’s president-elect and on its executive board. In addition, he previously served on the NYSSCPA’s statewide Business Valuation Committee.
Matatov is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is a member of its Forensic and Valuation Services Section. He is an AICPA CFF Champion, frequently lectures on the topic of financial forensics before professional associations and currently teaches M.B.A. students Principles of Forensic Accounting at Baruch College in New York City.
This past January, Matatov began a two-year term as president of the New York Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the largest fraud-fighting organization in the world. He is also on the executive board of the Russian Leadership Division of the UJA Federation of New York and of the Shorefront Jewish Community Council, which serves the underprivileged residents of the Brighton and Manhattan Beach areas of Brooklyn, New York.
Matatov received both a Master of Science in Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Investments from Baruch College. He completed his undergraduate studies Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma during his graduate studies. In addition to his CPA license, Matatov is certified in financial forensics (CFF), is a certified valuation analyst (CVA), certified fraud examiner (CFE) and a certified forensic accountant (Cr.FA).
Matatov was born in Moscow, Russia and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he currently resides.
