Marcum LLP Wins Three 2013 Edge Awards from LEA Global: Leading Edge Alliance

Marcum LLP, a top national accounting and advisory firm, won three 2013 Edge Awards at the annual luncheon of LEA Global: Leading Edge Alliance in San Francisco. Marcum took top honors for Outstanding Marketing Initiative, New Frontiers Innovation and Outstanding Community Service.

Outstanding Marketing Initiative Award
In the marketing category, Marcum won for Thoughts of the Week, a blog written by Managing Partner Jeffrey M. Weiner. The blog launched on January 4, 2013 as a vehicle to give all Marcum clients and contacts a way to connect with the Firm’s leader. Mr. Weiner receives a large volume of responses to his weekly posts, which cover a multitude of topics and give readers insight into his observations and interpretations of the world at large.

New Frontiers Innovation Award
Marcum was singled-out in the innovation category for becoming the first national accounting firm to establish a tax and estate planning practice dedicated to serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and Non-Traditional Family community. In its first 12 months, Marcum’s LGBT practice grew from a single office in San Francisco to six offices in each of the Firm’s regions, becoming an important new revenue center. In the process, Marcum also became the country’s definitive subject matter expert, sought by media and conference organizers to discuss the financial complexities faced by same-sex married couples. This is the second consecutive year Marcum won for firm innovation.

Outstanding Community Service Award
In the Outstanding Community Service category, Marcum won for the annual Marcum Workplace Challenge, a charitable 3.5-mile walk-run at Jones Beach in New York, which raises funds for three Long Island charities. In 2013, the Marcum Workplace Challenge became the largest running event in the region, with over 8400 runners and walkers from 211 Long Island companies, organizations and government agencies. More than $80,000 was raised, bringing cumulative receipts to date to over $380,000.
