Excerpt:

Norwalk-based technology company Datto has topped the Marcum Top Tech 40, an annual award recognizing Connecticut’s most rapidly growing companies.

Datto, which specializes in backing up computer systems and online disaster recovery, was awarded for exponential revenue growth in the past four years.

The award is produced by the Connecticut Technology Council and sponsored by Marcum, an accounting and advisory firm with offices in New Haven and Hartford. Companies participating in the awards process must have $3 million in sales and are divided into different categories for consideration, including manufacturing, energy, software, IT and biotechnology.

Datto was selected for the top spot in both the IT category and the overall contest, with sales growth that shot up to $25.8 million last year from $187,000 in 2008, a gain of 33,407 percent.
