Marcum LLP Featured in LIBN.com Article "Long Island Accounting Firms Among Top 100"
By Claude Solnik
A ranking of the nation's largest accounting firms based on revenue placed several Long Island-based companies – and many with big operations in the region – among the top 100.
The 2012 ranking by Inside Public Accounting ranked Marcum, based in New York City and with large Long Island operations, as 15th with $274.2 million in revenue, up from 16th a year ago.
When Marcum & Kliegman changed its name to Marcum in 2009, it officially shifted its headquarters to Manhattan as part of its national expansion. But it retains a large Long Island presence.
"Our headquarters are in New York City," said Carolyn Mazzenga, partner in charge of Marcum's Melville office. "Our roots are on Long Island. We started on Long Island."
Marcum's back-office operations as well as a big chunk of its accounting personnel remain on Long Island.
Marcum has a 200-person New York City office, with slightly more based in Melville. CEO Jeffrey Weiner splits his time between Manhattan and Melville, while the firm's CFO, CIO, COO and head of HR all are based on Long Island.
