Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) Released by CMS

On Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 4:15 PM CMS released the final rule for PDPM. This represents a sweeping change from the introduction of the Prospective Payment System which was introduced in 1998. Skilled Nursing Providers and therapy companies have been awaiting in order determine how the previously proposed systems due to be implemented in October of 2019 will impact the industry.

In a nut shell this payment model eliminates payment based on services delivered to residents and instead based upon anticipated resources needed to care for the course of a resident stay.
