Summer Breeze

Summer Breeze

Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday we were returning from our holiday break, and here we are with our last column before our traditional summer hiatus. I’ve hardly had a chance to assemble my notes from last year’s “what I did on my summer vacation.” Nevertheless, summer 2016 is here. And do I love summer. So yes, this is it, my last column until September 9th, when we return after a well-deserved rest. Writing this column is both harder than you may think and at the same time unbelievably rewarding. Last week’s column alone generated an avalanche of responses, both positive and negative, that I’m still working my way through.

But writing this column, which we started three years ago, is really one of the few ways many of you get to know me. As Marcum has grown, we have added both team members and clients, many of whom I don’t get a chance to know personally and the vast majority of whom don’t know me. This is one of the ways I attempt to connect with you and give you a glimpse into what’s going on at Marcum, how I personally feel about significant current events and an occasional look into what’s going on in the Weiner household. And the feedback for the most part has been gratifyingly favorable, although there’s the occasional controversial topic (last week, for example) that really brings out some strong contrary positions and admonishments for mixing business and personal views. But we’re all entitled to our opinions, and I welcome the feedback.

So, the Weiners are off to the east end of Long Island. I will be commuting longer than I’d like to for much of it, but being able to get out of New York City for most of the harsh summer heat and humidity and enjoying the beach for the next couple of months is something we look forward to all year.

One thing I’m especially looking forward to this summer is July 29th, when Jason Bourne, the fifth installment of the Bourne movie franchise, opens in theaters. I am proud and privileged to be one of the producers, and I am especially excited about this next one in the series. We have an all-star cast, with Matt Damon returning in the title role, and it really is going to be the best one yet. Tracy and I will be traveling to the premier in Las Vegas, which will take place on July 18!

Since I won’t be writing this column for the next few weeks, I’m going to be tweeting more often than I have in the past. Why not? It seems to be working for Donald Trump. So, if you want to keep up on all things Weiner this summer, please follow me on Twitter @jeffreyweiner.

Before I sign off, there are a couple of thank-you’s owed. First, to my editor Julie Gelfand. When I write, she makes it readable; when I’m stuck, she comes up with the ideas. We are a true example of how left and right brain work together to deliver something incredible. And to Chris Pelosi, Marcum’s Director of Digital Marketing, who more often than not is waiting eagerly on Friday mornings to take what Julie and I have created and get it formatted and distributed. Thank you both and enjoy the down time. Without both of you, none of this would be possible.

I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing summer filled with whatever makes you happiest. And for all of us, I wish lots of sunshine and warm summer breezes.

See you after Labor Day!
