Janis Cowhey McDonagh is a Principal in the Firm’s New York City office. Her primary focuse is on complex estate and gift planning, estate and trust administration, fiduciary tax compliance and providing corporate counsel to clients.
Ms. McDonagh has refined a broad range of effective estate planning tools including QPRTSs, GRATs, CRUTs, CLATs, NIMCRUTs and IDGTs. Working closely with high-net-worth individuals and families and owners of closely-held businesses and start-up companies, Ms. McDonagh advises them on business strategies, succession planning, sales purchase of their business, lease negotiations, shareholder agreements, operating agreements and buy/sell agreements.
Ms. McDonagh has extensive experience in fiduciary tax compliance including estate and trust income tax returns, charitable trust information returns, and estate and gift tax returns.
Prior to joining the Firm in 2007, Ms. McDonagh was with a publiclytraded professional services company. She frequently lectures on topics related to estate and gift tax issues and estate planning strategies. In addition to her educational accomplishments, she is qualified to sit for the certified public accountants exam and has studied tax and accounting at St. John’s University Graduate School.
