About Anirban

Anirban Basu joined Marcum as the Firm’s Chief Construction Economist in September of 2012. A member of the Firm’s national Construction Practice, as well as Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm in Baltimore, Maryland, Anirban leads Marcum’s research and analysis of the economic health of the commercial construction industry in America. He produces the quarterly Marcum Commercial Construction Index and the annual Marcum JOLT Survey Analysis of prevailing construction industry hiring trends.

The Marcum Commercial Construction Index provides ongoing updates regarding the performance of the nation’s commercial construction industry, including construction spending, employment and producer prices. The index also provides narrative focused upon key drivers of commercial construction spending, including broader economic forces and the impacts of public policy.

Anirban is one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s most recognizable economists, in part because of work on behalf of government agencies and non-profit organizations. He is a frequent lecturer, author and consultant to commercial businesses, economic development agencies, and professional organizations. Anirban also serves as Chief Economist to the Associated Builders & Contractors organization and is a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University, where he lectures in Global Strategy.
