About Jeff

Jeff Houston is a partner in the Firm’s Assurance Services Division and serves as Marcum’s office managing partner in the Houston, Texas office.

In addition to his public accounting experience, Jeff has a specialized background in the oil and gas, biotechnology and pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and real estate industries, where he has held senior industry executive positions responsible for corporate expansion through capital funding, strategic alliances, and mergers and acquisitions. He has evaluated business development and acquisition proposals for new ventures and created plans for business refinancing and restructuring. He is adept in helping organizations identify new processes to reduce operating costs, such as implementing cost management processes, purchasing and contracting administration processes, and creating financial and operational procedures.

He joined Marcum in 2018 as the result of a merger with his previous firm where he was a founding shareholder and CEO. His previous experience included serving as chief financial officer (CFO) for a NASDAQ-listed oil and gas company; a NASDAQ-listed metals fabrication company; and privately held entities in the oil and gas exploration, oil refining, real estate, manufacturing, and telecom industries. He began his career at a Big Four firm serving numerous industries, including Fortune 500 publicly held companies, privately held entities, regulated and unregulated energy companies, development-stage enterprises, individually owned entrepreneurial enterprises, and natural gas marketing companies.
