John Vozzo is a Director in the Firm’s New Haven, Connecticut office. He has more than 25 years of public accounting experience providing tax consulting and accounting services. Mr. Vozzo works closely with a broad range of publicly-traded and privately-held companies with matters relating to federal and state corporate income tax, mergers and acquisitions, and inbound international tax issues.
Mr. Vozzo has extensive experience working with ASC 740 (formerly FASB 109), including financial statement tax footnote disclosures and related accounting for uncertain tax positions (formerly FIN 48). He frequently consults with clients on proper financial reporting for various tax transactions and provides tax representation before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities with examinations, appeals, and other tax matters.
Mr. Vozzo has provided assistance on numerous merger and acquisition transactions and related tax structuring involving corporations as well as flow-through entities. His international tax background includes the “earnings stripping” rules and transfer of cash out of the U.S., transfer pricing requirements and international tax structuring. In addition, Mr. Vozzo has been involved with various flow-through entities such as partnerships, S corporations, limited liability companies and “check-the-box” entities.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Vozzo spent most of his career at a “Big 4” accounting practice where he frequently presented national training sessions on income tax accounting and uncertain tax positions. He has served clients in the consumer products, regulated utilities and real estate industries.
