Robert S. Schachter is a Partner in the National Alternative Investment Industry group tax department of the Firm’s New York City office. His extensive public accounting experience spans more than 25 years with transactions involving a variety of financial products‚ derivatives‚ tax efficient trading and investment strategies.
A respected tax consultant‚ Mr. Schachter assists development stage entities‚ investment partnerships‚ broker-dealers‚ fund of funds and private equity funds. He is often engaged by clients to review partnership agreement allocations and consult on adverse effects reflecting such allocations. In addition‚ he is heavily involved with tax structuring for private equity transactions‚ including the tax ramifications to multi-state consolidated corporate entities with highly-compensated employee owners.
Prior to joining the Firm in 2009‚ he was with a local accounting practice. Earlier in his career‚ Mr. Schachter worked at a national firm where he developed his hedge fund experience and he spent several years with a "Big 4" accounting firm in the area of international tax.
Mr. Schachter is active with several professional organizations. He volunteers for Pay It Forward, a program that educates New Jersey high school students about the benefits of becoming an accountant. In addition, as an influential member of the NJSCPA Directors Subcommittee, he plays a key role in shaping New Jersey's tax policies and legislation.
