Marcum Workplace Challenge Kicks Off Fifth Year of Sponsorship for August 3 Race in Long Island
Annual 3.5 mile run/walk features celebrity race starter and surpasses the $100,000 mark in charitable contributions
Marcum LLP, one of the nation’s top 20 accounting firms recently announced its exclusive sponsorship of the fifth annual Marcum Workplace Challenge to take place on Tuesday, August 3 at Jones Beach State Park, Zach’s Bay. Thousands of participants from over 200 companies will take part including more than 50 CEO’s/senior staff members of businesses, non-profits and governmental agencies in the greater New York area. Beneficiaries of this year’s event include the Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) and the Children’s Medical Fund of New York.
The Marcum Workplace Challenge began in 2005 as a way for Long Island business leaders to promote camaraderie among employees while networking, having fun and staying healthy. In addition, the event serves to highlight supporters’ commitment to children’s organizations in the New York Metropolitan Area.

The event will commence with race starter/celebrity guest Amy Palmiero-Winters, a below-the-knee amputee and 2010 ESPY award nominee for Best Female Athlete with a Disability. Palmiero-Winters is the world record holder in 12 different events within her division including the Ironman Triathlon, 100-mile Ultramarathon and the 24 hour run, where she posted the second-fastest time in race history and became the first female amputee to finish a 100-mile race.
