Nanette Lee Miller, Leader of the LGBT Practice Group, Quoted in San Francisco Business Times Article "LGBT Investors Embrace Optimism, UBS Finds" Modern Family & LGBT Services

Excerpt:

Investors in the LGBT community are more optimistic about the economic outlook and their personal finances than other Americans, according to a special edition of UBS Investor Watch.

Even as many Americans were wringing their hands over the government shutdown and the troubled debut of Obamacare, many in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community are directly benefiting from what works in Washington: the Surpeme Court ruling that the federal government must recognize state-sanctioned same-sex marriages.

That has led to economic empowerment and the extension of federal benefits to many same-sex married couples in California and elsewhere, said Nanette Lee Miller, who heads accounting firm Marcum’s LGBT practice in San Francisco.

UBS said LGBT investors’ optimism is apparent in its long-term view, with 67 percent feeling positive compared to 57 percent of overall investors. Regarding their personal finances, 59 percent of LGBT investors said they were extremely or very confident of reaching their financial goals, compared to 52 percent of other investors.
