About Kathy

Kathy Raffa is the Firm’s Office Managing Partner in the Washington, DC metropolitan region offices. She is also a member of the Firm’s Assurance Services Division. Ms. Raffa came to Marcum via the Firm’s merger with Raffa, P.C., one of the nation’s preeminent public accounting and business consulting firms, specializing in nonprofits, where she served as president and grew the firm into one of the 100 largest accounting firms in the United States.

With more than 35 years of successful experience serving the nonprofit sector, Ms. Raffa regularly serves as an Audit Partner and provides clients with consulting and business advisory services. She counsels her clients on topics including growth and organizational infrastructure.

She manages engagements for a wide range of nonprofit entities including community based, national, and international charitable organizations; trade associations, performing arts organizations, museums, religious institutions, private and charter schools, and private foundations.

Upon her graduation from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Raffa spent the early part of her career at a “Big 8” firm. She specialized in nonprofit and higher education audit work, including serving clients such as the Smithsonian Institution, the International Monetary Fund, and Georgetown University.

Ms. Raffa currently serves on the boards of Trinity Washington University and EagleBank, a public company. She is the past board chair of Levine Music and also served on the boards of several arts organizations.

In 2017, Ms. Raffa earned recognition from Jewish Women International, the Washington Business Journal, and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs for her women’s leadership role both in the community and the profession.
