About Martin

Martin Martinez is a Tax & Business Services partner in the Firm’s Houston office. He has more than 25 years of experience in tax accounting, compliance, audit, research, and planning activities for clients ranging from small private enterprises to Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Martinez is skilled in designing and implementing innovative tax planning strategies and integrated software solutions to ensure compliance with global tax regulations, maintain internal controls, drive continuous process improvements, and reduce overall corporate tax liabilities. He has served clients in numerous transaction support roles including planning and structuring, execution assistance, and financial reporting of income taxes (ASC 740/FIN 48 and IAS 12).

His primary focus is corporate and partnership tax matters, including cross-border transactions, treaty analysis, in-bound and out-bound structuring and planning, foreign tax credit planning, subpart F analysis, and export incentives for multinational public and private corporations. Additional international experience includes §861 allocation planning, §956 analysis, thin capitalization analysis, FIRPTA planning, §163(j) analysis and transfer pricing review.

Prior to joining Marcum, Mr. Martinez was a tax partner with a middle-market accounting firm. He also served as a tax director for a Fortune 100 multinational company where he was responsible for overseeing over 200 domestic and foreign entities in the tax department.
