Marcum’s David Appel to Present at 2013 EB-5 Investment Summit: Dealmakers Conference
New York City, NY – David Appel, a senior Tax & Business Services partner at Marcum LLP and a leader in the Firm’s national EB-5 Regional Center Services practice, will be a featured presenter at the 2013 EB-5 Investment Summit: Dealmakers Conference on May 30 in Los Angeles. Mr. Appel, who has presented at numerous EB-5 conferences in the U.S. and abroad, will discuss current tax issues for EB-5 investors as well as critical aspects of project due diligence.
“The unique federal EB-5 program has attracted significant capital investment from China and other overseas markets and has been an effective catalyst for job creation domestically. As with any investment, it is critically important that investors perform the proper due diligence to ensure they thoroughly understand the investment project risks, both financially and with respect to the EB-5 application process, and that they carefully plan the application process with professionals. It is also important that investors review their sourcing of funds to make sure they can meet USCIS criteria, and that they properly plan for U.S. taxes in advance of their green card status,” Mr. Appel said.
The federal Immigrant Investor Program, known as EB-5, was established in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and foreign investment in U.S. commercial enterprises.
