Marcum LLP Names James Ashe Partner-In-Charge of Advisory Services Group Advisory

NEW YORK, June 1, 2011 – James T. Ashe, CPA, CFFA and CFF, has been named Partner-In-Charge of Marcum’s Advisory Services group. In his new role‚ Mr. Ashe will be responsible for the growth and development of the Advisory Services group which provides forensic, bankruptcy, investigative, and valuation services.

Mr. Ashe has more than 30 years of diverse forensic accounting and tax experience in both international and regional accounting firms‚ giving him the unique ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of business operations‚ structure and evaluate specific transactions‚ and work with litigants and legal counsel on liability and damage aspects associated with legal actions. He has been engaged in both consulting and expert witness engagements‚ including ownership disputes‚ breach of contract‚ intangible asset related cases (patent infringement‚ trade secrets‚ customer lists)‚ fraud investigations‚ professional malpractice and other types of damage analysis.

He has been retained by financial institutions‚ insurance carriers and interested third parties to “look behind and beyond the numbers” to determine mismanagement or financial fraud‚ calculate damages associated with wrongful acts or losses‚ establish the basis and amounts of restitution and assist counsel in government claims with the Securities and Exchange Commission‚ U.S. Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Treasury’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Mr. Ashe has also been appointed by various courts to perform special investigations and to act as a neutral/advisor. He is a certified financial forensic analyst (CFFA)‚ a credential held by only about 300 professionals in the United States due to the rigorous requirements to attain certification.

He received a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Pace University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Mr. Ashe will be based in Marcum’s Melville, NY office.
