About Richard

Richard Hunter is a partner in the Firm’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services division in Marcum’s New Haven, Connecticut office. His experience includes providing external audit and business advisory services to public and private companies of all sizes across a variety of industries.

Before joining Marcum, Richard spent 15 years working with Big Four firms serving both middle-market and large, publicly traded clients, reporting under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). He has extensive experience with quarterly and annual filings to assist management in streamlining required filing. In his role, he became proficient in accounting research and ensuring proper accounting treatment in accordance with U.S. GAAP through working on business combinations, initial public offers (IPOs), complex and unusual transactions, and the implementation of new accounting standards.

Richard has assisted companies in the adoption of the Committee of Sponsoring Organization of the Treadway Commission (COSO) 2013 framework. He assisted in performing companies risk assessments, identifying the relevant controls, and identifying control gaps, and recommending corrective actions. He was responsible for testing the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of internal controls and provided value-add insights for process and control improvements.
