About Edward

Edward Bortnick, a senior advisor at Marcum, has over five decades of experience in public accounting. He specializes in litigation services, including business valuations, bankruptcy, and divorce support. His experience includes accounting, tax, consulting, and valuation services.

Edward is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Valuation Analyst, Master Analyst in Financial Forensics, and Certified in Financial Forensics. Recognized for his deep insights into valuations, He has produced valuation reports for more than 100 entities and, notably, amended valuations previously prepared by other firms, leading to significant estate tax refunds for clients.

Edward is frequently invited to speak at professional gatherings, including those organized by the Attorney CPA Association, the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, and the Society of Financial Professionals, to name a few. He authored the article, “Do Not Be Too Quick To Discount For Controlling Interests,” for Thompson Reuters’ Valuation Strategies. Edward also enjoys sharing his knowledge as an instructor for the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). Moreover, he has served as the president of the Maryland/DC chapter of NACVA.

With his extensive experience, Edward has emerged as a valuable expert witness, presenting his expertise before Circuit, US Bankruptcy, and Federal courts. He also extends his services in areas such as exit planning, audits, reviews, compilations, and offering tax planning and preparation guidance.

Before joining Marcum, Edward was a co-managing partner of SKMB, which merged with Marcum in 2024.
