About Melissa
Melissa May is a partner in Marcum’s Novi, MI office. She leverages more than 20 years of experience in public accounting to clients, with a practice focusing on the oversight of the Firm’s charter school auditing practice. Melissa also provides consulting, accounting, tax, and attestation services to a variety of clients in other industries.
Melissa has acted as driving force supporting the growth and development of the Firm’s services for charter schools. As a prominent provider in the field, Melissa frequently speaks at seminars for the charter school industry and is also an active member of the Michigan Department of Education’s Accounting Manual (Bulletin 1022) and Auditing Manual Referent Groups, contributing to the documents produced by each group as a writer. Her clients include many of the largest charter schools in Michigan and she is an active member of the MICPA and AICPA. Melissa also contributes to departments responsible for the Firm’s quality control and peer review practices.
Prior to joining Marcum, Melissa was a Partner at Croskey Lanni, PC, merged with Marcum in 2024.
