Mike Giffin is partner-in-charge of Marcum LLP’s Advisory Services practice in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Giffin specializes in the valuation of corporate equity, debt, derivative securities, partnership interests, and intangible assets of both privately held and publicly traded businesses. His valuation projects serve a variety of purposes, including mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax restructuring, litigation, bankruptcy, portfolio valuation and management planning.
Mr. Giffin has served domestic and global clients in numerous industries for more than 25 years, including oil & gas, industrial services, power, renewables/clean energy, petrochemicals, metals and mining, cannabis, infrastructure, waste management, retail, restaurants, real estate, consumer and industrial products, and financial services, among others. He has advised corporate valuation clients on more than $75 billion of M&A transactions during his career.
Mr. Giffin is adept at handling complex and challenging engagements for large corporate and fund clients. His work has been reviewed by the Internal Revenue Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and all of the major accounting firms.
Mr. Giffin has been a regular public speaker on the topic of valuation and financial advisory services throughout his career, including multiple presentations and panels for the SEC Institute.
Mr. Giffin began his career as a consultant in the transaction advisory practice of a Big Four accounting firm and has held leadership positions at global accounting, consulting and investment banking firms. During his 18-year tenure at a global investment bank, he was appointed co-head of the energy financial advisory services practice, which included litigation consulting, portfolio valuation, fairness opinions services, corporate valuation services, transaction advisory services and financial reporting technical accounting services.
